Description

Herodotus (c. 484-425 B.C.) of Halikarnassos achieved fame in his lifetime for his Histories, which chronicle the Greek wars with Persia in the first quarter of the fifth century B.C. and the years surrounding those momentous events. His most brilliant and original accomplishment was his conception of a narrative that interweaves local traditions in a span of more than seventy years and encompasses much of the world known to the ancient Greeks through fact and fiction. Cicero called him the father of history. This marble bust is a Roman copy (2nd century AD) of a Greek bust of Herodotus from the first half of the 4th century BC. This reproduction is carved from a solid block of the finest Greek marble. Our marble is white with occasional veins of different colorations. For this reason every sculpture is unique. And don't forget, marble lasts forever. Dimensions : Height 15 cm (5.9 inches) Diameter 7 cm (2.75 inches) Weight 1 Kg Will ship worldwide.
