HYGIEIA GODDESS OF HEALTH - BUST ON MARBLE BASE Hygieia was the goddess of health, healing and wellbeing. She was the grand-daughter of Apollo. Hygieia's name gives us our word "hygiene". The original marble head, currently in the National Museum in Athens, was found in the Temple of Apollo at Tegea and is probably the work of the 4th century sculptor Skopas. This bust is made of magnesite material , giving the piece a classic appearance. It was made in Greece, stands 7.2 inches high 4 inches width and weighs approximately 1.6 kilograms.
