Description

This is a lovely classical bust by the well known French sculpture Jean J. Pradier 1790-1852. We are quite sure it is a life time casting circa 1850 or older. Pradier did quite a few classical sculptures of Sappho and Aphrodite mostly in full figure mode. He did a few busts but we searched high and low and could not find another version of this bust. The flowers in her hair are quite distinctive and we could find no other figures that he had added flowers to the hair. This has a excellent chocolate brown patina in great condition.
